Your Great White Shark Diving hosts are based in Gansbaai, South West Overberg, Western Cape Province, South Africa, 160km from Cape Town(2hr drive). | The excursion to Geyser and Dyer Islands begins at the picturesque Kleinbaai harbour near Gansbaai. Geyser Island is home to a permanent colony of approximately 40 000 Cape Fur Seals. The channel between these islands is renowned world-wide to be the best place to observe, encounter and dive with the Great White Shark, and is known as "Shark Alley". | In high season(June to September), 4 or 5 sharks are usually encountered in a day, but as many as 18 have been encountered per occasion. We have a 95% success rate in terms of daily sightings during the high season. | The boat is a 10m catamaran, registered to carry normally on 12 people per trip. The launch of the boat depends on the tide for the day. It is about 10 – 15 minute sailing till anchor. The chumming then starts to attract the sharks to the boat. The trip can take 4 – 5 hours. | Your Great White Shark Diving hosts comply with a strict set of safety rules and regulations as required by the South African Government’s Department of Labour. | The excursion to Geyser and Dyer Islands begins at the picturesque Kleinbaai harbour Our crew is geared to handle any emergency situation that may arise whilst out at sea. The boat, the cage, cage hoisting and lowering equipment and diving equipment are inspected daily by the crew, and by the Department of Labour on an annual basis. |
